Outdoor Track Runs Hard on Final Day of Bison Outdoor Classic

The Canisius men's and women's outdoor track teams closed out the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic Saturday at Christy Mathewson Memorial Stadium in Lewisburg, Pa. The Golden Griffins put together another strong performance on day two, highlighted by sophomore Katie Gawronski, who moved up the Canisius record books in the women's 400-meter hurdles.

Gawronski ran the event in 1:07.38 to secure second all-time in program history.

In the women's 3000-meter run, senior Bailey Pierce came in third place in her heat and 12th overall with her time of 11:00.36, marking a new personal-best. In the men's 3000, sophomore Thomson Chew also finished in 12th place overall out of 52 to runners to pace the Griffs with his career-best time of 8:56.99.

Sophomore Collin Rice posted a fourth-place finish in the men's mile, crossing the finish line in 4:27.13, while freshman Jacob Raichel placed 13th (4:39.93).

Up Next
Canisius visits the University at Buffalo next Saturday, April 23 to compete in the UB Invitational at UB Stadium. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
