Outdoor Track Concludes Regular Season at Cardinal Classic

The Canisius men's and women's outdoor track teams conclude their regular season April 25, taking part in the Cardinal Classic in Pittsford, N.Y.

The Griffs are coming off a strong showing at the UB Alumni Invite last weekend, securing two first place finishes and 11 top-10 finishes in Buffalo, N.Y.

Senior Joe Pivarunas turned in a first-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:32.02. In the same race, freshman Jack Stanford (10:18.69) and sophomore Mason Allee-Castro (10:31.54) placed in fifth and sixth, respectively.

Also on the men's side, freshman Jaxyn Mahoney continued his strong first year with a first-place finish in the 800-meter, clocking in at 1:51.13. Freshman Jack Nesbit claimed eighth (1:55.52), and senior Brody Jones finished in 11th (1:56.82).

Canisius added three top-10 finishes in the 1,500-meter, led by sophomore Nathaniel Fisher's sixth-place time of 3:57.54. Jones followed in eighth (4:01.24), while sophomore Fenway Breckels placed ninth in 4:01.44.

On the women's side, sophomore Ella Krumpek registered a podium finish in the women's 1,500-meter, crossing the line in 4:48.33 for second. Freshman Julia Gullo added a fourth-place finish in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:57.78).

The Griffs also found success in the 5,000-meter, as two runners placed in the top-10. Junior Brooke Podgorski placed seventh (19:03.91), and junior Payton Calkins placed 10th (19:38.87).
