The
Canisius College baseball team used an efficient day offensively - scoring 17
runs on 14 hits and leaving a combined three runners on base - to defeat
Bucknell 10-5 and 7-1 at the Demske Sports Complex on a rainy Wednesday afternoon.
The Golden Griffins have now won eight of their last 11 games and stand at
19-11 on the season.

two runs in 10 innings pitched, with Linseman earning his first collegiate victory.
In

Paul Panik walked to lead off the
third and Silverman scored both with an RBI triple. Sean Jamieson then scored Silverman with a sacrifice fly to center.
The Griffs added a run in the fourth when McQuail led off with a single, moved
to third on a ground-rule double by Burton in the right-center field gap, and
scored on an groundout from Shayne
Willson.
Canisius
grabbed control of the game with a three-run fifth. Will Chomicki led off with a double that snuck inside the
third-base bag. Silverman reached on an error, moving to second on the wild
throw that allowed Chomicki to score. Choy then hit an opposite-field homer to
left to give Canisius the six-run advantage.
Bucknell
(12-19) climbed back into the game using a four-run top of the sixth, with
reliever Andrew Van'tWout ending the
rally on a strikeout with two runners on base. The Griffs scored three
insurance runs in the sixth. Pettit led off with a single and Panik beat out a
bunt single. After a balk, Chomicki scored Pettit with a sacrifice fly.
Jamieson would single to center, scoring Panik, and moved to second on an
error. Choy's single to right scored Jamieson.
Van'tWout

The
Bison scored a run in the top of the third, loading the bases with one out.
Martin was able to get out of the jam with a pop out to short and comeback
groundball to the pitcher's mound. The Griffs then scored five in the third,
which was delayed 31 minutes by rain. Pettit led off with a single and a
Bucknell error led to four unearned runs in the frame. Chomicki walked to put
runners on the corners.
After
the rain delay, Silverman doubled to right center, scoring both runners. After
advancing 90 feet on a fly ball from Jamieson, Silverman scored on a wild
pitch. Choy followed with a walk, stole second and scored on an RBI double from
McQuail. Burton closed out the inning with an RBI single.

Canisius
resumes conference play this weekend with its first MAAC road series of the
season. The Golden Griffins, who are 3-0 in the MAAC, travel to Jersey City, N.J. to face Saint Peter's
in a three-game series, with Saturday's doubleheader scheduled for a first
pitch of 12 p.m.
Game Notes: Game
one started at 1:10 p.m. and featured a rain delay of 45 minutes... Canisius and
Bucknell met for the second consecutive season, with Canisius winning three of
four in Lewisburg, Pa. last season... McQuail extended his hitting streak to a
career-long 11 games, one game longer than his previous career best of 10 games
(April 10 to May 2, 2009)... Van'tWout allowed an inherited runner to score in
sixth inning of the first game, just the second of 10 inherited runners to
score this season on the redshirt senior. It was also the first inherited
runner to score off a Canisius reliever since March 21, at Dayton, ending a
streak of eight straight inherited runners stranded by Canisius relievers... Martin has allowed two earned runs in his last nine
innings pitched... Linseman has allowed one run in eight innings pitched since
returning from an injury suffered last season... Bucknell left 15 runners on
base, going 7-for-30 with runners on base and 2-for-14 with two outs in the
doubleheader.
