Morin Named Canisius Male Athlete of the Year

Baseball pitcher Felix Morin has been named the 2025-26 Canisius Male Athlete of the Year, athletic department officials announced on Friday.

Morin was honored after being selected in a fan vote conducted by GoGriffs.com. Other nominees included Toby Mayfield (men's swimming and diving), Alexis Simard (men's lacrosse), Kahlil Singleton (men's basketball) and Mikey Takacs (men's golf).

Morin is the seventh baseball student-athlete to be named Canisius Male Athlete of the Year and the fourth in the last five years (Max Grant – 2022, Matt Duffy – 2023, Jackson Strong – 2024).

A native of Quebec City, Quebec, Morin garnered All-MAAC First Team accolades following a senior season that saw him post career highs in ERA (2.77), innings pitched (87.2) and strikeouts (71).

In 16 appearances during the 2026 campaign, Morin recorded six-or-more strikeouts on six occasions, highlighted by a season-best eight punchouts at UNC Greensboro on Feb. 20.

A two-time MAAC Pitcher of the Week selection, Morin became the sixth pitcher in program history to reach the 200-strikeout milestone for his career during the Golden Griffins' matchup with Siena on May 13. He also finished his time on Main Street ranked ninth in career innings pitched (256.2).

Morin will look to continue his playing career at the professional level as he recently signed a pro contract with the Quebec Capitales of the Frontier League.

The nominees for the 2025-26 Canisius Female Athlete of the Year will be announced on June 22.
