The Canisius volleyball team opens Metro Conference play this weekend as the Golden Griffins play host to Sacred Heart (7-5, 0-0 Metro) on Friday and defending conference champion Fairfield (6-5, 0-0 Metro) on Saturday.
Friday's match against the Pioneers is slated for a 6 p.m. start while Saturday's contest against the Stags is scheduled for a 2 p.m. first serve. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
• Canisius opens conference play on the heels of a split of the WNY Invitational, picking up a victory against Le Moyne via a sweep while also dropping a match against Horizon League opponent Valparaiso, 3-1.
• Senior libero Brenda Reynaga currently leads the Metro Conference and sits ninth nationally in digs per set, recording 4.94 digs per set through ten matches played.
• Sophomore Alli Farmer led the Blue and Gold in kills during the WNY Invitational, recording 20 through the two-match slate.
• Freshman Kenslie Warmbrodt added 45 assists to her season total as she averaged 6.4 assists per set last weekend.
• Saturday's match up will mark the penultimate game against Fairfield as a conference opponent, as they will be moving to the CAA after the 2026 season.
• Friday's contest versus Sacred Heart will mark the fifth meeting all time, in a series that extends back to the 2015 season.
