The Canisius volleyball team co-hosts its second tournament of the year as it welcomes Le Moyne and Valparaiso to the Koessler Athletic Center for the WNY Invitational this weekend.
The two-day event begins Friday at noon with a contest between the Dolphins (0-8) and the Beacons (5-4).
The Golden Griffins (0-8) open tournament play Friday at 6 p.m. against Le Moyne before closing out the weekend Saturday with a 2 p.m. contest against Valpo.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
• Canisius puts the finishing touches on its non-conference slate this weekend after squaring off against Central New York foe Syracuse in a netural-site matchup in Rochester last Sunday.
• With the addition of five kills recorded against the Orange, junior Emma Isroff continues to lead the Blue and Gold with 70 kills on the season.
• Freshman Kenslie Warmbrodt paces the team with 140 assists, averaging 5.0 assists per set through the first eight matches of the season.
• Senior libero Brenda Reynaga leads the Blue and Gold in digs with 129 on the season. Reynaga tallied 23 digs against Syracuse last Sunday, marking the fourth time she has surpassed the 20-dig plateau this season.
• Saturday's contest between Canisius and Valparaiso will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
• Friday's contest against Le Moyne will be the ninth matchup between the two in-state foes in a series that dates back to 1984.

Canisius turns its focus to Metro Conference play next weekend as it opens league play at home against Sacred Heart and Fairfield.
The Griffs square off against the Pioneers in a 6 p.m. matchup on Sept. 25 before squaring off against the defending conference tournament champion Stags in a 2 p.m. contest the following day.
