On the Tee
• The Canisius golf team closes out the 2025 spring season this weekend, as the Golden Griffins take part in the 2025 MAAC Golf Championship at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The 54-hole event starts Thursday, with 18 holes being played April 17-19.
• This marks the 22nd time since 2000 where the MAAC has hosted its conference championship tournament on the Disney Wide World of Sports property. This year also marks the return of the tournament to Disney's Magnolia Golf Course, the longest golf course among the three Disney tracks.
• Last year, the Griffs placed seventh in the nine-team field with a three-round score of 894. Dating back to 2018, Canisius has placed as high as fifth in the league's championship tournament on three occasions (2018, 2019 and 2021).
• Canisius' best team finish at the MAAC Golf Championship came in 1997, when the Blue and Gold placed third. In 2013, Canisius finished fourth in the team event, which is the best team finish for the program since that effort in 1997.
• The championship team at this year's MAAC Golf Championship earns the league's automatic berth into the 2025 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship.
• Additionally, the individual champion at this event not only earns a bid into the 2025 NCAA Golf Championship, but also earns the McLeod Trophy as the league's top golfer.

Current Griffs in MAAC Championship Events
• Four members of this year's team have previously played in the MAAC Championship, led by senior Ryan Edholm, who will be making his fourth career appearance in the MAAC Golf Championship.
• Last year as freshmen, current sophomores Jake Dantonio, Alex Schickling and Mikey Takacs all made their MAAC Championship debuts. Dantonio and Takacs both fired even-par 72s in the final round to earn top-25 finishes.
• In 2023, Edholm tied for fifth in the field with a three-round score of 216, which awarded him All-MAAC honors. Since 2022, three Griffs have earned All-MAAC accolades, including former Griffs Shane Broad and Mike Donner, who each tied for fifth in the 2022 tournament with three-round scores of 219.
• Edholm's 216 in the 2023 championship event stands as the lowest MAAC Championship score for a Canisius golfer since the conference's title event moved to 54 holes in 2002.
• Edholm is looking to become just the fourth Canisius golfer in program history to earn multiple All-MAAC Championship accolades. Former Griff and Canisius Sports Hall of Famer Glen Gast finished in the top-10 of the MAAC Championship three times (1995, 1996 and 1997), while Drew Creighton (2008, 2009) and David Hanes (2017, 2018)
each earn All-MAAC Championship status twice, each.

Last Time Out
• Canisius finished third at the N.Y./Pa. Division I Quad Match, which was played Monday afternoon at Lake View Country Club in North East, Pa.
• Edholm shot a one-over par 73 in that event to earn a tie for third in the field. That third-place finish serves as his second top-five performance this season, as he also finished third at the 2024 Little Three Championship during the fall season.
