Edholm Ties for Sixth to Earn All-MAAC Championship Honors

Canisius senior Ryan Edholm shot an even-par 72 to finish tied for sixth in the field as the Canisius golf team played in the final round of the 2025 MAAC Golf Championship on Saturday afternoon at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Edholm was one of 11 golfers to shoot at-par or better on Saturday, and his even-par round of 72 allowed him to finish the three-day tournament with a score of 215, which was one-under par for the event, making him one of 10 golfers in the field to post a tournament score under-par. That score of 215 is the lowest score for a Canisius golfer at the MAAC Championship since the tournament format moved to 54 holes in 2002.

By earning a tie for sixth on the final leaderboard, Edholm received All-MAAC Championship honors, making him just the fourth golfer in program history to earn All-MAAC Championship accolades on multiple occasions during his career in Blue and Gold. Eldholm joins former Griff and Canisius Sports Hall of Famer Glen Gast (1995, 1996 and 1997), Drew Creighton (2008, 2009) and David Hanes (2017, 2018) as the only three Canisius golfers earn All-MAAC Championship multiple times.

As a team, Canisius shot a 304 on Saturday to finished tied for eighth in the field. Sophomore Jake Dantonio posted a four-over 76 while freshman Chase Burgess shot a 77 in the final round. Sophomore Mikey Takacs shot a 79 on Saturday and finished tied for 22 in the field.

Fairfield's Tadgh Burke shot 74 in the final round, but still secured the McLeod Trophy as the tournament's individual champion with his three-round score of 210. The Stags won the team title as well, the program's first since 1997.
