2024-25 • SOPHOMORE SEASON
• One of four Griffs to play in all 10 tournaments (23 rounds).
• Posted a final stroke average of 74.4, which ranked second on the team.
• Shared individual medalist honors at the 2024 Little Three Championship with his career-low score of 142 (-1).
• Carded a three-round score of 220 at the Colonel Shootout in Richmond, Ky. That serves as his career-low score in a 54-hole tournament.
• Finished second or better among Canisius golfers in eight of the 10 events he played in during his sophomore season.
• Shot a season-low 70 in the second round of the Little Three Championship.
• Tied for 12th with a 148 (+4) at the Carpetbagger Classic.
• Tied for 22nd (second among Canisius golfers) with his score of 224 (+8) at the 2025 MAAC Golf Championship.
• Named to the 2024-25 MAAC All-Academic Team.


2023-24 • FRESHMAN SEASON
• One of three Canisius golfers to play in all 10 events (25 rounds) during the 2023-24 season.
• Carded a season-low 67 in the final round of the Southern Invitational.
• Placed 13th with a two-round score of 153 (+13) at the 2023 Little Three Championship, his first collegiate tournament.
• Posted a tournament score of 150 in back-to-back events (Cornell Fall Invitational and Matthews Auto Collegiate).
• Tied for 25th in the field at the 2024 MAAC Men’s Golf Championship after he shot 224 (+8) for the 54-hole event, his lowest 54-hole score of the season.


BEFORE CANISIUS
• Was a three-year letterwinner at Regina Catholic High School where he played for head coach Jason Urdahl.
• Became the first golfer in Regina Catholic history to win the Iowa State Class 1A individual championship in 2023.
• Won the individual medalist honor after scoring a par in a sudden-victory playoff hole after he carded a two-round total of 148.
• A three-time state qualifier, he was a three-time all-conference honoree and earned all-state honors in 2022 and 2023.
• Closed out his senior year with a 71.6 scoring average.
• Also played hockey for the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders and led the team's defensemen with 15 assists.


PERSONAL
• The son of Mike and Liz Takacs.
• Has one brother, Matt.
• His cousin, Madison Balk, is a Lancaster, N.Y., native and is a member of the University of Washington softball team.
• A member of the National Honor Society, he was elected secretary of the student council at Regina Catholic.
• Majoring in sport and exercise health care.
