The Canisius indoor track and field teams wrapped up their regular season Saturday at the Spire Collegiate Indoor Games in Geneva, Ohio.
Senior Kayla Schmidt and junior Jacqueline Appenheimer both posted top-five finishes in the women's one mile race with Schmidt placing second with a time of 5:09.45 and Appenheimer claiming fourth as she crossed the line in 5:12.31.
Graduate student Stephanie Seyfang placed ninth in the 60m hurdles final with a time of 9.82, while graduate student Jules Jones gave Canisius another top-10 finish with an eighth-place result in the 800 meter race, crossing the line in 2:20.25.
On the men's side the day was dominated by the Golden Griffins' performance in the one mile race as Canisius claimed five of the top 10 positions, led by junior Kyle Urban with a third-place finish, crossing the line in 4:20.56. Freshmen Nathaniel Fisher (4th/4:21.73) and Fenway Breckels (5th/4:23.08), graduate student Collin Rice (8th/4:27.36) and freshman Adam Kozman (9th/4:27.37) rounded out the Griffs in the top 10.Â
Graduate student Max Chew placed fourth in the men's 3000 meter race, finishing in 8:43.85, while sophomore Joseph Capuzzo also placed in the top 10, claiming eighth with a time of 8:47.11.
