Outdoor Track Wraps Up Season at 2026 MAAC Championships

The Canisius men's and women's outdoor track teams competed in the 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Track & Field Championships this weekend at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Md.

The Griffs collected a silver medal on day one of competition as senior Joe Pivarunas finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with his time of 9:20.66. Fellow freshman Jack Stanford placed seventh in the same event, crossing the line in 9:52.96.

After qualifying on day one, freshman Jaxyn Mahoney turned in a seventh-place finish in the 800-meter, finishing in 1:54.52.

In another qualifying race on day one, two Griffs found themselves in the final of the 1,500-meter on day two, where senior Brody Jones placed ninth (3:59.64) and sophomore Fenway Breckels finished 11th (4:05.00).

The Golden Griffins also recorded a pair of top-10 finishes in both the 10,000-meter and 5,000-meter runs. In the 10,000-meter, sophomore Nathaniel Fisher finished just off the podium, taking fourth place with his time of 31:37.22, while junior Joseph Capuzzo finished eighth in 32:39.02. In the 5,000-meter, Fisher added another top-five result with a fifth-place finish in 14:51.17. Senior Kyle Urban also earned a top-10 finish, placing eighth in 15:09.23.

On the women's side, freshman Julia Gullo placed eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with her time of 11:43.15. Junior Brooke Podgorski placed 13th in the same event, with a time of 12:00.99.

Sophomore Ella Krumpek turned in an 11th-place finish in the 5,000-meter run, crossing the line in 18:09.53.
