Outdoor Track Concludes Season at 2026 MAAC Championships

The Canisius men's and women's outdoor track teams conclude their season by competing in the 2026 MAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend at Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Md.

The two-day event begins on Saturday (May 9) and concludes on Sunday (May 10), with both days being streamed live on ESPN+.

The Golden Griffins are entering the championships after concluding their regular season at the Cardinal Classic on April 25 in Pittsford, N.Y., where they turned in four first-place finishes.

On the women's side, freshman Charlotte Keenan found success in multiple events, highlighted by a first-place mark in the 400-meter with a time of 58.96. Keenan also took fifth in the 100-meter with her time of 12.95, and third in the 200-meter, finishing in 25.97.

Junior Brooke Podgorski (12:12.33) and sophomore Ella Krumpek (12:18.14) turned in podium finishes in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing second and third, respectively.

On the men's side, the Griffs tunred in two more podium finishes in the 1,500-meter run. Sophomore Nathaniel Fisher led the group, claiming first place with his time of 4:00.06, while senior Joe Pivarunas finished just behind Fisher in third (4:03.78).

Senior Brody Jones was the third Griff to claim a first-place finish at the event, this time in the 800-meter, crossing the line in 1:57.68.

Concluding the event, three Golden Griffins placed in the top five of the 5,000-meter race. Sophomore Joseph Capuzzo won the event with his time of 15:09.54. Finishing 18 seconds behind the second-place finisher, Capuzzo was named the MAAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week. Sophomore Adam Kozman placed fourth in 15:36.13, while graduate student Jacob Raichel rounded out the group in fifth (15:54.84).
