The Canisius indoor track and field teams competed in both the Penn State National and YSU Mid Major Invite this wekeend, wrapping up action in both events on Saturday.
Penn State National
Senior Kayla Schmidt and sophomore Jacqueline Appenheimer both competed in the women's mile, crossing the line in 5:13.44 and 5:16.91, respectively. Schmidt also took part in the 3000 meter race, finishing with a time of 10:01.07 in 15th.
YSU Mid Major Invite
The men's side was led by freshman Nathaniel Fisher, who set the freshman school record in the 3000 meter race as he placed fourth with a time of 8:36.97.
Freshman Adam Kozman claimed sixth in the men's 5000 meter race, crossing the line in 15:49.07. Graduate student Collin Rice took 12th with a time of 16:14.95.
Junior Joseph Pivarunas set a personal record in the men's 1000 meter race, placing 10th with a time of 2:37.96. Graduate student Pat Garland also set a PR in the 800 meter race with a time of 2:02.72. Graduate student Max Chew rounded out the day, placing ninth in the men's mile, crossing the line in 4:23.98
On the women's side, freshman Clara Sundberg set PR's in the women's mile (5:29.96) and the women's 800 meter race (2:28.12).
Graduate student Stephanie Seyfang set a PR in the women's 200 meter race with a time of 27.74, while freshman Ella Krumpek set a PR in the women's 3000 meter race, placing ninth with a 10:41.19.
