Men’s Basketball to Open 2023-24 Schedule at Syracuse

The Canisius men's basketball team will officially open its 2023-24 schedule on Wednesday, Nov. 8, when the Golden Griffins travel east on the New York State Thruway to play at Syracuse, officials from both schools announced Monday.

The game at Syracuse's JMA Wireless Dome will be the 71st all-time clash between the Griffs and the Orange, and it will be the first contest between the two programs since Dec. 15, 2012. In all, Syracuse leads the series 46-24, with Canisius' last win over the Orange coming Feb. 15, 1975 – an 80-76 Griff victory at The Aud in downtown Buffalo.

Canisius is set to return 54.8 percent of its scoring, 65.0 percent of its rebounding and 58.2 percent of its total minutes to the roster for the 2023-24 campaign. The 2023-24 season will be the 120th in program history.

Adrian Autry, a former player and associate head coach with the Orange, enters his first year in charge of the Syracuse program. The Orange went 17-15 a season ago in the final year of Hall of Fame coach Jim Boeheim's 47-year tenure. The Orange return a pair of starting forwards in Benny Williams and Chris Bell along with All-ACC Freshmen Team honoree, Judah Mintz.
