Indoor Track Concludes Day One of YSU Mid-Major Invitational

The Canisius indoor track teams competed in day one of the YSU Mid-Major Invitational in Youngstown, Ohio on Friday. The Golden Griffins posted three individual top-ten finishes and shined in both the men's and women's distance medley relay.

In the women's 1000-meter run, junior Olivia Moran and senior Bailey Pierce finished with times of 3:15.20 and 3:16.93, securing a fifth and sixth-place finish for the Griffs. Sylvea Cleary claimed ninth in the 500-meter with a time of 1:32.14.

The Canisius 'A' relay teams highlighted day one of competition with a pair of second-place finishes. The men's pairing of Michael Peppy, Turner Dirrigl, Ronan McDonald and Andrew Perreault crossed the finish line in 10:18.09. The women's 'A' team of Marissa Silba, Katie Gawronski, Leah Wardner and Libby Benzer finished with a time of 12:27.49.

Day two of the YSU Mid-Major Invite begins Saturday morning at 10 a.m. from the Watson and Tressel Training Site.
