Volleyball Unveils Fall 2021 Schedule

Canisius volleyball coach Shannon Thompson announced the fall 2021 schedule on Wednesday, a 27-game slate that features 12 road matches, 11 home dates and four neutral-site tilts.

Thompson's squad opens the season Aug. 27-28 with an appearance in the Auto Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational, hosted by Michigan State.

The Golden Griffins remain on the road for the Penn Volleyball Invitational in Philadelphia, Pa., over Labor Day Weekend (Sept. 3-4) before making their home debut with matches in the WNY Invitational, co-hosted by Buffalo. Canisius opens the event with matches against Duquense and West Virginia at the Koessler Athletic Center on Sept. 10 before closing out its non-conference slate with a road matchup against the crosstown rival Bulls on Sept. 11.

Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play gets underway with four straight home matches, beginning with Siena and Marist (Sept. 18-19) and concluding with dates against Fairfield (Sept. 25) and Quinnipiac (Sept. 26).

The league will once again play a double round-robin format during the regular season that will see the Griffs host and travel to each of the other nine member schools. Canisius is scheduled to close out the regular season with road matches at Rider (Nov. 13) and Saint Peter's (Nov. 14).

The 2021 MAAC Volleyball Championship will be held Nov. 19-21. Siena will serve as the host of the three-day event that will determine the recipient of the league's automatic bid into the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
