FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
1. On the Road Again

The Canisius men's basketball team returns to the state of Connecticut this weekend for a pair of MAAC road games at Fairfield, starting Feb. 19, at Alumni Hall, with tip-off set for 5 p.m. After a 41-day Covid-19 "pause", the Golden Griffins posted a two-game series sweep at Quinnipiac last weekend to extend the Blue and Gold's win streak to four straight. Canisius is 5-3 overall and 5-3 in MAAC play entering this weekend's action.

2. Good for Four (Or More)
The Griffs' current four-game win streak is the program's longest MAAC winning streak since the Blue and Gold ripped off six-straight conference victories during the 2017-18 campaign. Dating back to 2000-01, the Griffs have won four-or more MAAC regular-season games during a season just four times. Canisius head coach Reggie Witherspoon has been at the helm of two of those streaks.

3. How Sweep It Is
Canisius' sweep of Quinnipiac last weekend put the Griffs in select MAAC company. Only four schools have swept multiple MAAC series this season, with Monmouth leading the way with four sweeps to its credit. Siena has three sweeps, while the Griffs and Saint Peter's have two sweeps, apiece.

4. Scoring and Defending
Canisius senior Majesty Brandon is the team's leading scorer with his 12.5 points per game scoring average, which ranks 10th best in the MAAC. But Brandon has proven to be good at both ends of the floor, as he's the team's leader with 11 steals this year. On Feb. 13, he set a new career-high with four blocked shots in the Griffs' 89-70 win over Quinnipiac.

5. Bring on the Reseves
The Griffs have received tremendous contributions from their reserve players this season, highlighted by the fact that the team's top-two scorers, Brandon and junior Malek Green, come off the bench. Canisius enters this weekend at Fairfield ranked first in the MAAC and third in the nation in bench scoring, with the team averaging 36.1 points per game off the bench.
