Men’s Basketball Adds Will Taylor to 2026-27 Roster

Canisius head men's basketball coach Jim Christian announced today that Will Taylor has committed to join the Golden Griffins' roster for the 2026-27 season.

A 6-foot-9, 210-pound forward from Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England, Taylor played at Ellsworth Community College in 2025-26. He will have three years of eligibility remaining, starting next season.

"Will is a versatile big man who we believe can play multiple positions for us," Christian said. "He is a high-IQ player who can do a little bit of everything. He is also coming from a high-level junior college, where he played a lot of minutes and made a considerable contribution to their run toward a national championship last year, so he understands what it takes to be successful."

Last season, Taylor played 36 games at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa. In those 36 contests, he was good for 7.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game while shooting 49.0 percent from the field and 71.0 percent from the free-throw line. He started 32 of the Panthers' 36 games and helped play a role in Ellsworth advancing to the 2026 NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship game against Parkland College.

At Ellsworth, Taylor played for head coach Bryan Bender, who also coached future Griff Clinton Efinda. Efinda, who played at Ellsworth during the 2023-24 campaign, recently committed to join the Canisius program after spending the previous two seasons at UNCG.
