Clinton Efinda Commits to Join Men’s Basketball Roster

Canisius head men's basketball coach Jim Christian announced today that Clinton Efinda has committed to join the Golden Griffins' roster for the 2026-27 season.

Efinda, who spent the previous two seasons at the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG), joins the Canisius program from the NCAA Transfer Portal. He will have one year of collegiate eligibility remaining, starting next year.

"Clinton is another veteran player who will provide a physical presence with his size and length," Christian said. "Defensively, he can guard multiple positions, and offensively, he understands how to play with or without the ball, and he can stretch a defense with his ability to hit the three. We are excited to add him to our roster."

A 6-foot-5, 220-pound forward, Efinda played 44 games over two years at UNCG, where he averaged 3.6 points and 1.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 40.9 percent from the field, 39.4 percent from 3-point range and 76.3 percent from the free-throw line. In 2025-26, he played in all 35 games for the Spartans, where he averaged 14.5 minutes per game. He posted double-figures in the scoring column five times, highlighted by his career-high 21-point performance against VMI, where five of his seven makes from the field came from behind the 3-point arc.

Prior to joining the UNCG program, the Naas, Ireland native played one season (2023-24) at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa. There, he played 35 games for the Panthers, where he averaged 15.2 points per game while grabbing 3.9 rebounds to go with 1.5 assists per contest. In his final game at Ellsworth, he scored 32 points, one of his 10 games in that season where he scored 20-or more points.
