FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
1. Canisius Hosts Fairfield to Start MAAC Play

The Canisius men's basketball team opens the MAAC portion of its 2021-22 schedule Friday night when the Golden Griffins play host to Fairfield at the Koessler Athletic Center. Game time is set for 7 p.m. Dating back to 2012-13, Canisius has won eight of its last nine conference openers, including a stretch of seven-straight wins to start conference play from 2012-13 through 2019-20. This will be the fourth time the Griffs have started league play against the Stags since the 1989-90 campaign, and Canisius is 3-0 in the previous three meetings.

2. Ugly Christmas Shirts and a Great Opp
The first 200 Canisius students that arrive at the Koessler Athletic Center on Friday will receive an "ugly Christmas" T-shirt, presented by Independent Health. All fans will have the opportunity to take a photo with the NCAA Championship Trophy, which will be on site to help promote the 2022 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship. Canisius will serve as a co-host for the tournament's first and second rounds in March 2022. Additionally, fans are reminded to bring a new, unwrapped toy for donation to The Buffalo News Neediest Fund.

3. Series History vs. Fairfield
Canisius and Fairfield will be meeting for the 90th time in series history on Friday - a series that the Stags lead 50-40. Last year, these two Jesuit schools played two times at Fairfield, with Canisius scoring an 80-69 win on Feb. 19, before Fairfield bounced back to take the second game of the MAAC series the next day.

4. Green Getting It Done
Senior Malek Green was good for a game-high 21 points and seven rebounds in the team's loss to Cornell on Monday, his sixth game of the season with 14-or more points. Green enters Friday's game against Fairfield ranked third in the MAAC in scoring average (16.6 points per game), 11th in rebounding average (6.6 rebounds per contest) and first in the conference in field goal percentage (51.8 percent). Last year in Canisius' 80-69 win at Fairfield, Green poured in a career-high 29 points to go with nine boards.

5. Henderson Closing in on 100 Career Threes
Senior Jordan Henderson enters Friday's game as the program's active leader in career 3-point makes with 91 to his credit. He needs nine more triples to become the first Canisius player to reach 100-career 3-point field goal makes since former Griff Takal Molson reached the career milestone during the 2018-19 campaign.
