Griffs Golf Dream Course: Matt Genaway

Over the next month, GoGriffs.com and the team's official Twitter handle (@GriffsGolf) will run a series of features on the favorite holes for each member of the Canisius golf team. The players and head coach Todd Hummel were asked to pick their two favorite holes, provide a scouting report on how best to attack them.

Junior Matt Genaway is next on the tee with his two favorite holes - including the 18th hole at the Links at Hiawatha Landing, a course where Genaway fired a four-under par score of 68 in October 2019.

Hole No. 12 - Niagara Falls Country Club (Niagara Falls, N.Y.)

Genaway's Thoughts:
In 2018, I made a hole-in-one on this hole during the Porter Cup qualifier. It was playing 148 yards and hit pitching-wedge and it dunked in. Tiger Woods made hole-in-one on this same hole when he played in the Porter Cup back in the 1990s.

Hole No. 18 - Links at Hiawatha Landing (Apalachin, N.Y.)

Genaway's Thoughts:
This past season, our team captured our first invitational championship since 2009 when we won the Matthews Auto Collegiate at the Links at Hiawatha Landing. Our team absolutely ate this par-5 up, playing the hole five-under as a team to secure the win. This is a really cool golf hole that provides many options for risk/reward.
