Five Things to Know - Presented by Salvatore's
1. Canisius Opens Tourney Play on Tuesday
• The Canisius men's basketball team will play its opening round game at the 2020 Hercules Tires MAAC Men's Basketball Championship against four-time defending MAAC champion Iona on Tuesday night
. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN3. The 2020 Hercules Tires MAAC Men's Basketball Championship is being held at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., the first time the site has hosted the league's conference championship.

2. So We Meet Again
•
Tuesday will mark the ninth time Canisius and Iona have placed in
the MAAC Men's Basketball Championship, and this will be the first contest between the schools in the postseason since 2016. Iona leads the postseason series by a 5-3 count, with the Griffs' last win over the Gaels in the MAAC Tournament coming 2008.

3. Johnson, Fritz Earn All-MAAC Honors
• Canisius senior Malik Johnson and freshman Jacco Fritz were named All-MAAC on Monday, as voted on by the league's 11 head coaches. This marks the fourth-straight season where multiple Griffs were honored to postseason All-MAAC squads. Johnson was named All-MAAC Third Team, his second-straight year on that all-star unit, while Fritz became the 12th player in program history to be named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team.

4. No. 1 is the Only One

• Malik Johnson recorded two steals in the win over Niagara March 6, the 55th time in his career he recorded two-or more steals in a game. Those two steals in his final career game at the Koessler Athletic Center allowed the Richmond, Va., native to become the first player in school history to score 1,000 points, grab more than 500 rebounds, dish out 500-plus assists and earn 200-or more steals.

5. Brandon Keeps Scoring
• Junior Majesty Brandon extended his streak of scoring 10-or more points in a game to 11-straight after he posted 19 points in the team's win over Niagara at home March 6. The Bronx, N.Y., native came off the bench and scored in double-figures 18 times during the regular season, and he closed out conference play averaging 15.4 points per game against MAAC rivals, which ranked sixth-best in the league.
