Outdoor Track has Strong Showing at Dave Labor Invite

The Canisius men's and women's track programs recorded multiple strong performances Saturday at the Dave Labor Alumni Invitational in Slippery Rock, Pa.

For the women's program, the Golden Griffins recorded two first place finishes on the day. The first came in the 3000 steeple-chase, when senior Kayla Stewart recorded a time of 11:49.35 to take the top spot. The second came in the women's running of the 1500-meter as senior Siobhan Quinn crossed the line in 4:43.36, edging out Seton Hill's Alexis Cunningham by just 1.55 seconds.

Senior Carlin Sullivan placed third in the 1500 as she finished with a mark of 4:45.80.

On the men's side, sophomore Connor Doran (4:02.84) and junior Nick Neamtu (4:06.09) finished third and fourth in the 1500. In the men's 800, senior Paul Henry led the way for the Canisius runners as he finished sixth when he crossed the line in 1:59.11. Senior Josh Sopchak and junior Nicholas Spinosa also recorded top-10 times in the 800, finishing the event in 1:59.67 and 2:00.25, respectively.

To close out the day, the men's relay team of junior Marcus Brown, sophomore Turner Dirrigl, Henry and Doran finished sixth with a mark of 3:32.00, just four seconds off the fifth-place team from Fredonia.
