Track Opens Outdoor Season at the Geneseo Early Season Invite

The Canisius men's and women's track teams open the outdoor portion of their 2026 schedule Saturday when the team takes part in the SUNY Geneseo Early Season Invite at the SUNY Geneseo Track and Field Complex in Geneseo, N.Y.

The Griffs are coming off an indoor season that pinned the men in ninth place and the women in 10th at the 2026 Indoor MAAC Championships.

Freshman Jaxyn Mahoney, the two-time rookie of the week, had a successful indoor season for the Golden Griffins. Placing second in the 800-meter final at the Championships, Mahoney set a school record with his 1:51.84 mark.

The 4000-meter DMR team consisting of sophomores Jack Nesbit and Ryan Giglia, along with seniors Brody Jones and Joe Pivarunas, also took home a silver medal, finishing in 10:06.92.

On the women's side, fellow freshman Charlotte Keenan also found success at the Indoor Championships, as her 8.14 finish time in the 60-meter also set a school record.
