Five Things to Know Before Canisius Battles Iona
1. Down the Stretch They Come
• Canisius will play its final road game of the 2018-19 regular-season on Sunday when the Golden Griffins play at Iona. Canisius, which leads the MAAC standings with a 10-5 conference record, is coming off a 60-59 win at Monmouth on Friday. The Gaels have won five-straight, and sit a half-game back of the Blue and Gold in the MAAC standings with a 10-6 record in conference action.

2. Sometimes, You Gotta Grind
• Canisius scored a 60-59 win at Monmouth on Friday despite shooting just 29.8 percent from the field and 29.4 percent from 3-point land. The 60 points are the fewest for Canisius in a victory since Dec. 18, 2014, when the Griffs defeated Stony Brook 60-59 in overtime at the Koessler Athletic Center.

3. Road Dogs
•
Canisius' road win over Monmouth on Friday was the Griffs' ninth road win of the season, the most for any team in the MAAC. As of the start of Saturday's action, Canisius was one of 13 schools in the country with nine-or more road wins this season.

4. Milestone Win
•
The Griffs' win over Monmouth not only gave Canisius double-digit MAAC wins for the third-straight year and for the
sixth time in seven seasons, but it also serves as the 250th career victory for head coach Reggie Witherspoon.

5. MAAC Sanks
• Senior Jonathan Sanks knocked down a pair 3-point field goals in the win at Monmouth Friday, the 12th time this season where he's recorded multiple makes from 3-point range. A starter in the team's last seven contests, 73.1 percent of Sanks' 3-pointers in a Canisius uniform have come against MAAC opponents.
