Five Things to Know - Presented by Salvatore's
1. Canisius Starts MAAC Play at Siena
• The Canisius men's basketball team returns to the road on Monday, as the Golden Griffins travel to Albany, N.Y., to meet Siena in the MAAC opener for both teams. Canisius, which has won seven-straight MAAC openers dating back to 2012-13, will be playing Siena in its MAAC opener for the first time since the 1997-98 campaign.

2. Hit or Miss
• Through 10 games this season, Canisius has shot 50.0 percent or better from the field four times and won all four games. The other six games - Canisius has shot less than 40 percent from the field. With all of that, the Blue and Gold enters Monday's game ranked second in the MAAC with its 44.6 percent success rate from the floor.

3. Johnson Gets to 500 Assists
•
Canisius senior Malik Johnson posted a season-high 10 assists in the loss to Buffalo Dec. 18, which allowed him to become the fourth player in school history to register 500-or-more career assists. The Richmond, Va., native is averaging 5.3 assists per game this season, which ranks ninth in the nation, and his 508 career helpers ties him for third in the school's record book with former Griffs guard Brian Dux.

4. Hitchon Highlights
•
Junior forward Scott Hitchon scored a career-high 29 points in the Griffs' road loss to Buffalo Dec. 18 after he made a career-high 10 field goals. His 29-point effort stands as the most points scored by a Canisius player in UB's Alumni Arena, and he is now just the sixth player in school history to score 29-or-more points in a road game against Buffalo, Niagara or St. Bonaventure.

5. Microwave Majesty
•
Junior Majesty Brandon
scored 14 points off the bench in the loss at Buffalo Dec. 18, the ninth time this season where he's recorded five-or-more points in a game. Brandon leads the charge for the Griffs' bench reserves, which boasts an average of 31.3 points per game for the Blue and Gold.
