Cross Country Competes at Paul Short Invitational, Quinn Takes First Place for Women

The Canisius cross country programs ran in the 45th Annual Paul Short Invitational earlier today in Bethlehem, Pa. The men's and women's teams finished 32nd and 11th in their respective races. Senior Siobhan Quinn won the women's brown 6K for the second-straight season.

The men took part in the Paul Short Gold Men's 8K race, the most competitive race of the day. Juniors Nick Neamtu (25:25) and Anthony Belfatto (25:41) recorded top-100 finishes, placing 64th and 100th, respectively.

Joining Neamtu and Belfatto in the Blue and Gold top-five were senior Paul Henry (26:47), as well as freshmen Michael Peppy (26:24) and Evan Whittaker (26:54).

For the women, they ran in the Paul Short Brown Women's 6K race that featured six MAAC schools. For the second season in a row, senior Siobhan Quinn took first place in the event with a time of 21:02. Quinn's time of 21:02 is now the third best time in program history at the Paul Short Invitational.

Behind Quinn for the Griffs, seniors Carlin Sullivan (22:24), Aileen Doyle (23:35), Kayla Stewart (23:51) and freshman Carly Benson (23:46) round out the Golden Griffins top-five runners.

The Blue and Gold will host the annual Canisius Alumni Classic Oct. 13 at Delaware Park. The event will mark the Griffs' final race before the MAAC Championships, Oct. 27.
