FASTBREAK POINTS
• Canisius heads on the road to meet Bowling Green in the second round of the 2015 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.
• The Griffs are 17-14 on the year after beating Dartmouth 87-72 March 18 in the first round of the CIT. In that game, Canisius had five players score in double figures, the first time that has happened this season.
• This marks the third time in program history where the team has gone to the national postseason in three-straight seasons. Canisius went to three NCAA Tournaments from 1955-57, then played in two NIT events (1994-95) before going to the NCAA Tournament in 1996.
• Canisius comes into tonight's game with a total of 58 win in three season under head coach Jim Baron. Among MAAC teams, only Iona has won more games than Canisius since the start of the 2012-13 campaign.
• The win over Dartmouth on Wednesday improved Canisius to 3-2 all-time in the CIT. The Griffs come into this game today 1-0 in CIT road games, having defeated Youngstown State in the 2013 CIT second round March 23, 2013.
• The Blue and Gold is led offensively by sophomore guard Zach Lewis. Lewis is averaging 12.8 points per game this season after he posted 20 points in the win over Dartmouth.
• Canisius senior Josiah Heath will be playing in his 130th career game today.
CIT TIDBITS
• This marks the third-straight year Canisius has played in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. Canisius and Fairfield are the only MAAC schools to play in the CIT three times.
• The Griffs are 3-2 all-time in the CIT after Canisius defeated Dartmouth 87-72 in Buffalo on Wednesday night.
• The 87 points scored by Canisius in the win over Dartmouth are the most for the team this season, but it is not the program's record for points in a CIT game. For that, you need to go back one year to the 2014 CIT, when Canisius lost in the first round to VMI at home by the score of 111-100.
• Coming into today's CIT game, Canisius is averaging 84.6 points per game in its five previous CIT contests.
• This will be Canisius' 12th postseason appearance all-time in program history. The Griffs are 12-14 all-time in the postseason as a program.
• The CIT appearance in 2013 ended Canisius' 17-year drought without a postseason berth. Prior to earning a spot in the 2013 CIT field, the Griffs last postseason appearance came in the 1996 NCAA Tournament.
• Canisius defeated Elon in the 2013 CIT first round and then advanced to the quarterfinal round of the 32-team event with an 84-82 win in overtime at Youngstown State. That win in overtime was the program's first overtime victory in a postseason game since March 12, 1956 when the Blue and Gold beat No. 2 North Carolina State 79-78 in four overtimes.
LAST TEAM STANDING
• At the start of today's action, Canisius is the only men's basketball team in the MAAC left in the national postseason.
• On March 17, Manhattan (NCAA), Iona (NIT) and Rider (CBI) all lost to see its respective seasons come to an end.
• Canisius is also the only Division I basketball team from Western New York still in action after cross-town rival Buffalo lost to West Virginia in the NCAA Tournament on Friday afternoon.
