  • The Canisius College men's basketball team closes out non-conference action this afternoon when the team meets Bowling Green as part of the ESPNU BracketBuster series.
  • The Golden Griffins are 8-18 overall after ending a six-game slide Feb. 16, with a 69-67 win over Loyola in Baltimore, Md.
  • Canisius' eight wins are two more than the team posted all of last season.
  • The Falcons are 15-10 overall and have won seven of their last eight games. Bowling Green defeated Buffalo 59-48 Wednesday night in Buffalo.
  • This marks the fourth consecutive year Canisius has participated in the BracketBuster series. The Griffs are 2-1 in the three previous contests.
  • As part of the BracketBuster agreement, Bowling Green will play a return game at the Koessler Athletic Center next season.
  • Today's game will be the 13th time these two schools have met on the hardwood, and the first time since Jan. 13, 1987 - a span of 8,075 days.
  • The game against the Falcons is Canisius' third of the year against a MAC member school, the first time the Griffs have done that since the 1996-97 season.

  • Junior guard Frank Turner leads the Griffs in scoring average at 15.5 points per game. He's posted double figures in the scoring column in 15-straight games and 24 times this season.
  • Turner had a team-high 23 points at Loyola Feb. 16, the 29th time in his career he's led the Blue and Gold in scoring.
  • Sophomore Greg Logins had 19 points (all in the first half) at Loyola Feb. 16, and starts today's contest averaging 16.4 points per game in the team's last five outings.
  • Logins starts today's game averaging 15.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in the team's last five outings.

ABOUT THE FALCONS

  • Bowling Green is 15-10 overall and 8-4 in the Mid-American Conference this year under second year head coach Louis Orr.
  • The Falcons are led by Nate Miller and his 12.3 points per game scoring average, which ranks 13th in the MAC.
  • Miller also leads the squad in rebounds, pulling down 6.6 per contest, which is seventh-best in the MAC.
  • Brian Moten and Darryl Clements are chipping in 11.6 and 10 points per game, respectively. 
  • As a team, Bowling Green ranks 33rd in the nation in field goal percentage defense and 52nd in scoring average.

CANISIUS - BOWLING GREEN SERIES

  • This afternoon's meeting between these two schools is the 13th all-time and the first since Jan. 13, 1987.
  • The Falcons lead the all-time series by an 8-4 count.
  • Canisius won the last game between these two squads by a 71-62 count. That win snapped the Griffs' five-game losing streak to Bowling Green.
  • The two schools met for the first time Feb. 14, 1956, at Bowling Green in the Eppler Center.

BRACKETBUSTER BULLET POINTS

  • This afternoon's game at Bowling Green marks the fourth time the Griffs have taken part in the ESPNU BracketBuster series, with the team holding a 2-1 record in the three previous contests.
  • Last season, Canisius hosted Albany in the Koessler Athletic Center and came back to down the Great Danes 64-60 on Senior Night.
  • The Griffs' lone loss in the BracketBuster came on the road at Coastal Carolina Feb. 17, 2007.
