Zwirecki Named to Buster Posey Award Midseason Watch List

Canisius redshirt junior catcher Thomas Zwirecki has been named to the Buster Posey National Catcher of the Year Award Midseason Watch List, the Wichita Sports Commission announced Wednesday. The award is presented annually to the top catcher in Division I baseball.
 
Zwirecki has been a key contributor for the Golden Griffins this season, posting a .297 batting average while leading the team with 15 RBI and 34 total bases. Behind the plate, he has thrown out seven runners attempting to steal and leads the team with 129 putouts.

Zwirecki and the Griffs return to action on April 2, opening a three-game series against Saint Peter's at the Demske Sports Complex in Buffalo, N.Y.
