Hockey Places Seven on AHCA All-American Scholars List

A total of seven members of the Canisius hockey program were recognized as the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) announced its Krampade/All-America Scholars for the 2024-25 season on Wednesday.

Juniors Hunter Andrew, Stefano Bottini and Kash Rasmussen, sophomore Jackson Nieuwendyk and freshmen Ben Bonisteel, Carter Patterson and Hunter Price were all recognized.

Andrew garnered All-American Scholar accolades for the second consecutive season while Rasmussen is also a two-time honoree after first receiving All-American Scholar distinction following the 2022-23 season while at Michigan Tech. Bonisteel, Bottini, Nieuwendyk, Patterson and Price are all first-time honorees.

To qualify, a student-athlete must have attained a 3.75 GPA or higher for each semester and had to appear in at least 40 percent of their team's games. Exceptions were granted to injured players and back-up goaltenders.

Since the program's inception in 2017, Canisius has had 48 student-athletes receive a total of 78 AHCA All-American Scholar accolades.
