Lisson Named AHA Rookie of the Week

Canisius sophomore goaltender Jack Lisson has been named the Atlantic Hockey America's Rookie of the Week, league officials announced on Tuesday.

The Oakville, Ontario native was recognized after posting a 1.56 goals against average and a .948 save percentage during the Golden Griffins series at non-conference foe LIU last weekend.

The announcement marked the second straight week that Lisson has been recognized by the league for his play as he was named the AHA's Goaltender of the Week on Oct. 6.

Against the Sharks, Lisson opened the weekend by making a season-high 33 saves in Canisius' 3-2 triumph in the series opener. Pressed into action less than four minutes into the series finale and with the Griffs facing a 2-0 deficit, Lisson stopped 22-of-23 shots faced in a 3-2 setback.

Through four games, Lisson ranks amongst the top 12 goaltenders in the nation in both goals against average (0.90/9th) and save percentage (.966/11th).

Canisius (2-0-1) returns to action this weekend as it travels to in-state foe Clarkson for a two-game series at Cheel Arena in Potsdam, N.Y.

Game one between the Griffs and Golden Knights is slated for a 7 p.m. start on Friday. Saturday's finale is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. puck drop.
