Rumley and Consigli Earn MAAC Weekly Honors

Senior infielder Trent Rumley was named MAAC Player of the Week and senior right-handed pitcher Peyton Consigli was tabbed MAAC Pitcher of the Week the league office announced Tuesday.

Rumley had a career day at the plate on Friday, leading Canisius to a doubleheader sweep of Marist. He went 7-for-10 with seven RBI, two home runs, three doubles and five runs scored in the two games. In the opener, Rumley drove in six of the Griffs 11 runs, a career high. He improved his batting average to .368 and is hitting .450 in conference play. On the season, the Cowlesville, N.Y. native is leading the Griffs in batting average (.368), home runs (7), RBI (27) and doubles (10).

Consigli led Canisius on the mound with a 7.0 inning gem and win at Marist in the opener. He came on in relief in the third inning for the Griffs and struck out nine Red Foxes, allowing one unearned run and scattered three hits. Consigli ranks second in the conference in strikeouts and has struck out six-or-more batters in five of his seven appearances this season.
