Men’s Basketball Adds Two From NCAA Transfer Portal

Canisius head men's basketball coach Jim Christian announced today that Marcus Niblack and Myles Wilmoth will join the Golden Griffins for the 2025-26 season.

Both players join the Blue and Gold's roster from the NCAA Transfer Portal. Niblack is transferring to Canisius from Jacksonville, while Wilmoth joins the program after spending last year at Siena. Both players will have one season of eligibility remaining.

"Marcus and Myles both bring a level of Division I experience and toughness to our program that we missed last year," Christian said. "As I stated on the last day of the regular season in March, we had a game plan entering the offseason and we knew what we were looking for in the recruiting process moving forward. I believe these two young men check a lot of those boxes and we are excited to add them to our program."

A 6-foot-2, 190-pound guard, Niblack did not play a game in 2024-25. In his one season (2023-24) at Jacksonville, the Leesburg, Fla., native appeared in 26 games and made 14 starts for the Dolphins. He ranked third on the Jacksonville team with his 10.2 points per game scoring average, and he recorded 10-or more points in 13 of the 26 games he played. He also led that team with 35 steals, which ranked seventh-best in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

Before joining the Jacksonville program, Niblack played at Northwest Florida State (2022-23) and Florida Southwestern State (2021-22). He started his collegiate career at East Tennessee State in 2020-21, appearing in 16 games.

Wilmoth played 28 games and averaged 16.4 minutes per game off the bench for Siena last year. A native of Chestnut Ridge, N.Y., Wilmoth was good for 2.9 points and 3.5 rebounds per game, highlighted by his season-high 16 points at Niagara and his career-best eight boards at Iona. He recorded multiple blocked shots in 14 contests a season ago for the Saints, including a career-high six against Quinnipiac, and his 1.5 blocks per game ranked third in the MAAC.

A 6-foot-10, 220-pound forward, Wilmoth started his college career at Butler, where he played in 59 games during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. He spent the 2023-24 campaign on the Hofstra roster but missed the entire season while recovering from a knee injury.
