Swimming and Diving Travels to Little Three Rival St. Bonaventure Friday

The Canisius men's and women's swimming and diving teams travel to Olean, N.Y., Friday to square off against Little Three rival St. Bonaventure in a dual meet at the Reilly Center Pool.

The matchup between the Golden Griffins and Bonnies gets underway at 3 p.m. with diving before the swimming portion of the dual meet gets underway at 6 p.m.

Canisius returns to the pool after being swept in a dual meet at Empire State foe Binghamton on Nov. 1.

In the women's meet, sophomore Daphne Mead won a pair of events for Canisius as she touched the wall first in the 100 and 400 IM. The Baltimore, Md., native also recorded a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke.

Junior Evie Leighton won the 200 free while Mead and Leighton joined with teammates Leyna Swanson and Hannah Brainard to finish second in the women's 200-yard freestyle relay, as well.

In the men's competition, senior Toby Mayfield won three races on the day, starting with a first-place finish in the 400 IM. He went on to touch the wall first in the 50 fly before winning the 100 IM. Junior Elliot Somers placed first the 100-yard butterfly and senior Sam Vidal won the 100 breast.

Canisius wraps up the fall portion of its schedule with an appearance in the UB Invite. The two-day is slated for Nov. 21-22 at the Alumni Arena Natatorium & Dorsi Raynolds Pool in Buffalo.
