Swimming and Diving Wraps up Fall Slate at UB Invite

The Canisius swimming and diving team closes out the fall semester this weekend with an appearance at the UB Invite at the Alumni Arena Natatorium on the campus of the University at Buffalo.

The three-session meet that pits the Golden Griffins against the host Bulls and fellow Big Four foe Niagara begins Friday with the first session at 5 p.m. Saturday's action gets underway with session two at 10 a.m. before concluding with session three at 4 p.m. A full order of events can be found below.

Canisius is back in the pool following a sweep at the hands of Little Three foe St. Bonaventure on Nov. 7.

In the men's meet against the Bonnies, senior Sam Vidal took first in the 100 breaststroke, touching the wall at 2:08.49, nearly two seconds ahead of junior Atticus Hlubin (2:10.37). Junior Elliot Somers also turned in a first-place performance, claiming the 200 backstroke in 1:53.93. Sophomores Rhys Insley (58.69) and Giovanni Poggio (58.70) gave the Griffs a 2-3 finish in the 100 breast while Poggio and recorded a second-place finish in the 200 IM with a time 1:56.82.

For the Canisius women, junior Cassandra Ercoli placed second in the 100 breaststroke by 11 hundredths of a second with a time of 1:08.25. junior Evie Leighton notched a second-place result in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.65 while junior SaraJo Gardner (2:12.02), freshman Zoe Schwartz (2:14.77) and senior Kelly Crous (2:16.03) claimed spots 2-4 in the 200 backstroke.

200 Freestyle, 50 Breaststroke, 500 Freestyle, 50 Backstroke, 200 Individual Medley, 50 Freestyle, 50 Butterfly, 400 Medley Relay, 3-Meter Diving

Session Two – Saturday, November 22nd, 10 a.m.

200 Medley Relay, 400 Individual Medley, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke, 800 Freestyle, 1-Meter Diving

Session Three – Saturday, November 22nd, 4 p.m.

1650 Freestyle, 200 Backstroke, 100 Freestyle, 200 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly, 400 Freestyle Relay

UP NEXT
Canisius returns to action Jan. 10 when it hosts Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Rider in a 10 a.m. dual meet at the Burt Flickinger Center in downtown Buffalo.
