Swimming and Diving Falls at Little Three Foe St. Bonaventure

St. Bonaventure posted a sweep of the dual meet against Little Three rival Canisius In intercollegiate swimming and diving action Friday at the Reilly Center Pool in Olean, N.Y.

The Bonnies men recorded a 208-86 victory over the Golden Griffin men while the St. Bonaventure women posted a 233-67 triumph versus the Canisius women.

In the men's meet, senior Sam Vidal took first in the 100 breaststroke, touching the wall at 2:08.49, nearly two seconds ahead of junior Atticus Hlubin (2:10.37). Junior Elliot Somers also turned in a first-place performance, claiming the 200 backstroke in 1:53.93. Sophomores Rhys Insley (58.69) and Giovanni Poggio (58.70) gave the Griffs a 2-3 finish in the 100 breast while Poggio and recorded a second-place finish in the 200 IM with a time 1:56.82. Freshman Hugh Hawkins (47.89) and sophomore Cameron Upchurch (48.21) placed second and third in the 100 freestyle.

For the Canisius women, junior Cassandra Ercoli placed second in the 100 breaststroke by 11 hundredths of a second with a time of 1:08.25. junior Evie Leighton notched a second-place result in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.65 while junior Sarajo Gardner (2:12.02), freshman Zoe Schwartz (2:14.77) and senior Kelly Crous (2:16.03) claimed spots 2-4 in the 200 backstroke. Sophomore Daphne Mead (2:29.88) and senior Tori Spacciapolli (2:30.83) placed second and third, respectively, in the 200 breaststroke.

UP NEXT
Canisius wraps up the fall portion of its schedule with an appearance in the UB Invite. The two-day is slated for Nov. 21-22 at the Alumni Arena Natatorium & Dorsi Raynolds Pool in Buffalo.
