Courts to Communities, Canisius SAAC Hosting Food Drive Saturday Night

Courts to Communities, a non-profit program established by Canisius junior guard Kahlil Singleton, and the Canisius Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), announced today that the groups will be hosting a food drive to support St. Luke's Mission of Mercy in Buffalo at the Canisius men's basketball game against cross-town rival Buffalo on Saturday, Nov. 29.

All fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to drop off in containers located inside the front lobby of the Koessler Athletic Center. For a full list of requested donation items, please see the image from social media below.

Courts to Communities is a non-profit program Singleton started while he was a member of the men's basketball team at Holy Cross. Now a member of the Canisius men's basketball team, Singleton is working to connect Canisius student-athletes with members of the Western New York community through food drives, youth basketball clinics and mentoring programs. Earlier this month, Singleton teamed with the Canisius SAAC to hold a food drive in conjunction with the Canisius men's soccer team's home game against Merrimack, and all the food was donated directly to St. Luke's Mission of Mercy.

On the court, Singleton is coming off a career day, as the Vancouver, Wash., native scored a career-high 33 points after making a career-best eight 3-pointers in the Golden Griffins' 75-66 home win over Binghamton on Nov. 23. Those 33 points are the most for a Canisius player at the Koessler Athletic Center since the 2013-14 season, and he became just the fourth player in school history to hit eight-or more 3-pointers in the win against the Bearcats.

As a team, Canisius is 4-3 overall on the season, with the team's four victories all coming at home. The Griffs will close out their three-game homestand on Saturday against their cross-town rival, the Buffalo Bulls, marking UB's first appearance at the Koessler Athletic Center since 2018-19. Game time is set for 6 p.m.

Tickets to Saturday's game, and all remaining Canisius home men's basketball games, can be purchased online by CLICKING HERE. Tickets for Saturday's game against Buffalo will also be sold at the Canisius ticket office inside the lobby of the Koessler Athletic Center, starting at 4 p.m. The EBC Fan Zone will open at 4:30 p.m., and the first 500 fans into the Koessler Athletic Center will receive a special "Don't Let The Griffs Get Hot" over mitt.
