Men’s Basketball Adds Alex Mack to 2026-27 Roster

Canisius head men's basketball coach Jim Christian announced today that Alex Mack has committed to join the Golden Griffins' roster for the 2026-27 season.

Mack recently completed his scholastic career at Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio. He is the second high school senior to join the Canisius roster for next season, along with Dorsett Mulcahy, who committed to the program during the NCAA's early signing period in November.

"Alex comes to us after playing one of the most challenging high school schedules in the state of Ohio last season," Christian said. "He is physically ready to play at the Division I level. He is a good shooter who can play both wing positions. He also comes from a basketball family. His father is a high school coach, so he joins us with a high basketball IQ and a really good understanding of the game."

A 6-foot-4, 175-pound guard, Mack averaged 14.1 points per game last season for Saint Ignatius and helped lead the Wildcats to a 16-8 overall record and an appearance in the Ohio High School State Athletic Association Northeast District 2 Division I championship game. He shot 44.0 percent from the field as a senior and scored a season-high 20 points in Saint Ignatius' 71-67 win over long-time rival St. Edward on Jan. 3.

Mack made more than 100 career 3-point field goals during his time at Saint Ignatius, and he ended the 2025-26 campaign by earning Cleveland.com All-District First Team honors.
