Strong, Dick Named to All-MAAC Teams; 21 Tabbed for MAAC All-Academic Team

Two members of the Canisius baseball team were awarded All-MAAC honors, the conference announced Tuesday. Junior outfielder Jackson Strong was named to the All-MAAC First Team while senior utility man Carlin Dick earned All-MAAC Second Team honors.

For the second straight year, Strong was recognized by the conference's head coaches as a All-MAAC First Team outfielder. The junior from West Seneca, N.Y., was among the MAAC leaders in numerous offensive categories and led the team in batting average (.357), OPS (1.136), hits (60), home runs (11), RBI (34), on-base percentage (.493), slugging (.640) and stolen bases (42). Strong enters the postseason leading the MAAC in runs scored, on-base percentage and stolen bases. Throughout the course of the season, Strong ranked as one of the top base stealers in the country, and currently holds the second highest stolen base total in the NCAA. He broke the Canisius single-season stolen base record earlier this season and is six stolen bases from the MAAC single-season record of 48 stolen bases.

Dick earned the second all-conference honor of his career by being named to the second team utility position. The senior from Abbotsford, British Columbia has split his time between the outfield and first base this season, recording 262 putouts. He had a career year offensively, surpassing career-highs in batting average (.283), hits (47), doubles (12), home runs (10), on-base percentage (.437), slugging (.536) and steals (20). Dick totaled more home runs and steals this season than his previous three years combined. He and Strong were the only two players on the Canisius roster to start all 46 games of the regular season.

The MAAC also released the Baseball All-Academic Team on Tuesday, which saw 21 Golden Griffins make the list.
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must hold a grade point average of 3.2-or-better on a 4.0 scale and have been at their current academic institution for two full semesters.
