Indoor Track Sets Four Schools Records at SPIRE Midwest Open

Four school records were broken Saturday as the Canisius men's and women's indoor track teams took part in the SPIRE Midwest Open at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

For the men, sophomore Braden Tent set a school record in the men's 600-meter race, claiming seventh place with a time of 1:23.80, breaking his own record that he placed last year. Graduate Student Dominic Clementi finished just behind Tent in eighth with a time of 1:24.11

Sophomore Arthur Hartel also broke his own school record in the 60m dash. Hartel knocked one tenth off his previous best finishing in 7.80.

Senior Collin Rice gave the Griffs another top-ten finish placing sixth in mens 3000-meter run morning section 8:55.30.

The men's 3,000-meter run saw graduate student Andrew Perreault (8:25.44) and graduate student Tom Appenheimer 8:31.52 both place inside the top 10 with Perreault placing fourth and Appenheimer placing eighth.

In the women's 400-meter dash, senior Maura Jordan was the third Golden Griffin to break their own program mark with a time of 58.04 to claim first place in the event.

Graduate Student Olivia Moran also broke a program record in the one-mile race, winning the event with a time of 5:02.36, breaking the record by just over three seconds.

Freshman Ella Herman crossed the finish line in ninth in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:45.39 giving Canisius another top-10 placing.

Senior Jules Jones led the way in the 3000-meter run placing fourth with a time of 10:18.76. Sophomore Jacqueline Appenheimer (10:28.47) and graduate student Marissa Silba(10:33.30) placed seventh and eighth respectively.
