The Canisius golf team returns to action Sept. 3-4, as the Golden Griffins take part in the Red Bandanna Invitational, sponsored by Circles. The 54-hole event, which will feature two rounds on Sunday and the final round on Monday, will be played at Turning Stone's Kaluhyat Course, recognized as one of the most difficult public golf courses in all of New York State.

ON THE TEE
• The Canisius golf team will be one of 15 teams in the field at the Red Bandanna Invitational, sponsored by Circles. This event is being hosted by Boston College.
• This marks the first time Boston College is serving as the host school for this collegiate golf event at Turning Stone. From 2012-22, this event was hosted by Missouri.
• The Griffs are one of three MAAC teams in the field, as Mount St. Mary's and Niagara will also participate in this event.
• The symbol of the red bandanna is one of Boston College's most recognizable traditions. To learn more about its significance, CLICK HERE.

LAST TIME OUT
• Canisius opened the fall portion of its 2023 fall schedule on Aug. 29, when the Griffs took part in the 69th edition of the Little Three Golf Championship.
• As a team, the Blue and Gold finished third behind longtime rivals St. Bonaventure and Niagara. St. Bonaventure won the team title for the seventh-straight year, which is a new Little Three Championship record.
• Freshman Alex Schickling was the top individual performer for Canisius at the Little Three Championship in his collegiate debut, as he placed sixth in the field with his two-round tally of 146.
• Junior Mike Douglas, who played as an individual, tied for seventh in the field with his score of 147, highlighted by his career-low round of 71 on the par-70 track at Bartlett Country Club in Olean, N.Y. Fellow junior Ryan Edholm tied for eight after he posted a 36-hole score of 148, which featured a second-round score of 69.
