• First Pitch
The Canisius baseball team continues its eight-game homestand when it plays host to Little Three rival St. Bonaventure for a pair of contests in the back half of a home-and-home series.

First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. from the Demske Sports Complex with both contests being aired on ESPN+.

The Golden Griffins swept the doubleheader that was played in Olean on April 11, earning a 6-3 win before taking a 10-4 victory to complete the sweep.

Canisius took advantage of the all-time series, moving to 54-53-3 in its favor.

• Last Time Out
The Blue and Gold took two of three games from Quinnipiac over the weekend, improving to 9-3 in conference play. Canisius was victorious the first two games, winning 7-6 and 15-9 before dropping the series finale, 10-8.

Junior Matt Duffy fanned 11 batters Friday, earning his fourth straight conference win in as many starts. Senior Chris Pouliot followed suit on Saturday, punching out 11 Bobcats of his own in six innings for his first victory of the season. Junior Levi Abbott earned his second career save on Saturday, tossing three innings of relief ball.

• Strikeouts on Strikeouts
The Canisius pitching staff recorded double-digit strikeouts in all three games against Quinnipiac, powered behind the 11-punch out days from Duffy and Pouliot.

This is the third time this season that they have achieved the mark, previously doing so versus Iona and at Morehead State.

Against the Bobcats, The Griffs fanned 39 batters across the 27 innings on the weekend, putting up a 14 and 15 strikeout performance in the two victories to open the series.

This is the fifth time in 2023 that the team has fanned at least 14 batters in a game this season and second time they have done it against the same opponent. All five games occurred at the Demske Sports Complex.

Canisius previously struck out 14 and a season-high 16 batters at home versus Iona earlier in the campaign.

• Leading it off With a Bang
Sophomore Jackson Strong clubbed his second lead-off homer of the season on Sunday, his team-best eighth long ball of the campaign.

This was the fifth longball hit in the opening frame this season by Canisius players and the third lead-off homer.

Strong previously slugged a leadoff home run on March 8 at West Virginia before graduate Dylan Vincent achieved the feat in the second game of a doubleheader on March 26 at Mount St. Mary's.

This is the second season in a row a Canisius batter hit a leadoff shot versus Quinnipiac. Mike DeStefano clubbed a leadoff bomb on April 2 in the second game of a twin bill in Hamden, Conn.

• Up Next
Canisius will host Saint Peter's later in the week for a three-game set that begins Friday with first pitch set for 3 p.m. at the Demske Sports Complex. All three contests during the weekend will be available through ESPN's services.
