Maher and Ramold Named to MAAC All-Academic Team

Canisius sophomores Joey Maher and Ben Ramold were both named to the 2023 MAAC Golf All-Academic Team, the conference office announced today.

Maher, who has played in six tournaments for the Golden Griffins during the 2022-23 season, shot a season-low 75 in the first round of the Bucknell Invitational Oct. 9. Ramold has posted a pair of 74s this season, most recently, in last weekend's opening round at the ABARTA Coca-Cola Invitational in Easton, Pa. Ramold is one of two members of the team that has played in all seven events to date this season for the Blue and Gold and he boasts a scoring average of 78.8, which is third-best on the team.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible for the award.

The golf team is set to return to the course April 21-23, when the team takes part in the 2023 MAAC Golf Championship at the Disney Palm Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
