Donner’s 72 Leads the Way for Golf at MAAC Championship

Canisius senior Mike Donner posted an even-par score of 72 on Saturday to move into a tie for 13th place after two rounds at the 2022 MAAC Golf Championship at Disney's Magnolia Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Donner was one of 11 golfers in the field to post a score of 72 or better on Saturday.
 
As a team, Canisius shot 302, which moved the team into seventh place with a tournament score of 601. The Golden Griffins will enter the final round on Sunday three strokes behind Saint Peter's (598) in the team portion of the tournament after the Peacocks posted a team score of 295 on Saturday.
 
Donner's 72 came after he recorded a pair of birdies and a pair of bogeys on the day. He is one of six golfers tied for 13th in the tournament, as his 72 on Saturday allowed him to move 14 places up the leaderboard. Freshman Ben Ramold is tied for 19th in the field with his two-round score of 149 after he carded a 76 on Saturday, and junior Shane Broad sits alone in 21st place in the tournament after he shot 77 on Saturday to give him a two-round tally of 150.
 
Iona's Justin Burkhamer is the leader of the tournament after he shot a three-under 69 on Saturday. He is four shots ahead of teammate Garrett Giles, who carded a 71 on Saturday for a two-round tournament score of 143.
 
As a team, Iona shot 293 in the second round, and the Gaels will start the final round on Sunday with a three-stroke team lead over Fairfield, which sits in second with a team score of 583. Rider (586), Monmouth (593) and Siena (594) round out the top-five in the team portion of the tournament, followed by Saint Peter's and Canisius. Niagara (613) is in eighth-place as a team, with Manhattan sitting in ninth place with its score of 634.
 
The final round of the 2022 MAAC Golf Championship will start at 7:15 a.m., on Sunday. Coverage of the final round will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
