Golf Closes Out Final Tune-Up Before MAAC Championship

The Canisius golf team closed out its final tune-up prior to the 2022 MAAC Golf Championship on Monday, as the Golden Griffins played the final round of the 2022 Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational at The Steel Club in Hellertown, Pa.

As a team, Canisius shot 302 in the second round to post a team score of 618 for the tournament. The host Lafayette Leopards won the team title after defeating Iona in a team playoff. Both of those squads finished the 36-hole event with team scores of 580.

Canisius junior Shane Broad fired a one-over par score of 73 on Monday to finish the event with a tournament score of 155. That tied him with teammate Ryan Edholm, who also shot 155 for the tournament. Senior Mike Donner shot a 76 in the final round on Monday to earn a tie for 72nd in the field with his two-day score of 154.

Canisius will return to the course April 22-24 when the Blue and Gold travels to take part in the 2022 MAAC Golf Championship. This year's event will once again be played at Disney's Magnolia Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
