FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

1. On the Starting Block
The Canisius swimming and diving team has its final meet of 2021 when it hosts Little Three rival St. Bonaventure. The meet is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., from the Burt Flickinger Center in downtown Buffalo.

2. Last Time Out for the Women
The women's team was defeated by Binghamton, 192-108, last Saturday at the Patricia A. Saunders Aquatic Center in Vestal, N.Y.

Graduate student Sage Pollack garnered three first-place finishes, pacing the women. Pollack was the first to touch the wall in both the 50 (24.12) and 100-free (53.47) events for the fourth straight meet this season, while also anchoring the first-place 200-free relay (1:40.97).

Freshman Noriah Cook earned a pair of first-place finishes. Cook paced the 100-back for the second consecutive meet, touching the wall at 58.64 and also took the top spot in the 200-back with a time of 2:09.96.

3. Last Time Out for the Men
Senior Liam O'Connell earned three more first-place finishes in his solo events on the season, giving him a total of 10.

O'Connell was the first to touch the wall in the 200 (1:43.53), 500 (4:41.30) and 1000 (9:41.08) free solo events. The senior also claimed third place in the 200-free relay with a time of 1:27.71.

4. Top Times for Pollack
Pollack's 50-free time of 24.12 puts her at the top of the MAAC this season in that event. Her 53.47 time in the 100-free also ranks as the fourth-best in the conference.

Her career-bests of 23.83 and 52.74, respectively, came in the MAAC Spring Invitational on March 28 of this year.

5. Up Next
Canisius will return to the pool Jan. 15, when it hosts John Carroll in the final home meet of the 2021-22 season. Start time for the meet at the BFC has not yet been determined, and will be announced at a later date.
