Canisius Athletics Announces Update to Vaccination Policy

VACCINATION POLICY FAQs

The Canisius College athletic department announced today that it has updated its COVID-19 fan attendance policy, which will require all spectators provide proof of vaccination to be admitted into any intercollegiate athletic event.

This policy update will go into effect on Monday, Oct. 4, and will include all home sporting events on campus, at the ECC Burt Flickinger Center pool, at LECOM HarborCenter and at KeyBank Center.

A vaccination card, a New York State Excelsior Pass, the CLEAR Digital Vaccine Card, a Canadian Vaccination Receipt or a digital vaccine verification card issued by states other the New York will all be acceptable forms of vaccination proof. Per Canisius rules, photos of vaccine cards WILL NOT be accepted.

All attendees ages 12 and older must provide proof that they have had at least one dose of the vaccine to be allowed to attend events on campus. Effective Oct. 29, all spectators must provide proof they have completed their vaccination series. No exceptions will be granted after the Oct. 29 deadline. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series, or two weeks following a single-dose vaccine.

Per Canisius policy, spectators will be required to wear masks at all times while attending events inside the Koessler Athletic Center. Vaccinated fans do not need to wear a mask during outdoor games at the Demske Sports Complex, as long as social distancing can be maintained.

Canisius College is consistently monitoring county, state and national COVID-19 mandates and policies. These policies are subject to change.
