Cross Country Partakes in Paul Short Invitational

The Canisius men's and women's cross country teams continued the 2021 season Friday afternoon at the Paul Short Invitational, hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.

On the men's side of competition, junior Tom Appenheimer was the top finisher for the Blue and Gold, crossing the finish line in a time of 24:44.6, good for 94th place. As a team, the Griffs finished 30th out of 40 programs in the men's Gold 8K race. North Carolina claimed the Gold division title, as the Tar Heels had three individuals post top-10 finishes.

On the women's side, senior Libby Benzer once again paced the Griffs with a 14th-place finish, crossing the finish line in a time of 21:41.3. Canisius finished 22nd out of 39 programs in the women's Brown 6K division, which saw Miami (Fla.) capture the team title.

The Blue and Gold return to action on Oct. 16 as the Griffs host the annual Canisius Alumni Classic. The race, which will be held in Delaware Park, is set to start at noon.
