Griffs Golf Dream Course: Jaret Chipman

Over the next few weeks, GoGriffs.com and @GriffsGolf will run a series of features on the favorite holes for each member of the Canisius golf team. The players and head coach Todd Hummel were asked to pick their two favorite holes, provide a scouting report on how best to attack them.

Senior Jaret Chipman is first on the tee, as he provides the first two holes to the @GriffsGolf Dream Course. Chipman, the only Canadian-born player on the Griffs' roster, proudly breaks down two holes from north-of-the-border.

Hole No. 1 - Lookout Point Country Club (Fonthill, Ontario)
Lookout Point Country Club
Chipman's Thoughts:
"Hole No. 1 at Lookout Point Country Club in Fonthill, Ontario is a 423-yard, par-4 that has a 130-foot elevation drop from tee to green. The tee shot comes from one of the highest points in the Niagara escarpment, having your ball soar into the Niagara Falls skyline before landing. This hole has a slight dog leg to the right, with trees lining both sides of the fairway. My play here is to hit driver with a left-to-right ball flight and to follow that up with a wedge shot from around 100 yards to leave myself under the hole for a good look at birdie. From an alternate tee, this hole allows long-hitters the ability to drive it on or close to the green, giving yourself a great opportunity to get the round started with a good score. Easily one of the best opening tee shots on any course I have played!
"

Hole No. 18 - Glen Abbey Golf Course (Oakville, Ontario)
Glen Abbey Golf Course
Chipman's Thoughts:
"This is the 18th Hole at Glen Abbey Golf Course in Oakville, Ontario - home of the RBC Canadian Open for many years. It is a 524-yard, par-5 that plays downwind with the prevailing winds, thus allowing for the opportunity to end your round with an eagle or birdie. There are many well-placed bunkers all over this hole, so a tee shot in the fairway is a must, unless you're Tiger Woods. If you do find the fairway, your second shot to the green will be with a long iron into a very narrow green. You'll also have to carry the water the entire way, and there are some deep bunkers protecting the green as well. For me, a well-placed drive down the left side of the fairway will give you the best angled approach, and finding the middle or left-center of the green will secure a birdie and even give you a chance at making eagle."
